Optimized Hydrothermal Synthesis of Pharmacosiderite-Type Titanosilicates for Extraction of 137Cs and 90Sr from High-Salinity Liquid Media

Pharmacosiderite-type titanosilicates were prepared hydrothermally. The influence of the duration of hydrothermal synthesis on the cesium-137 and strontium-90 sorption properties of the titanosilicates, structural phase composition, surface morphology, and textural characteristics was investigated. The composition, morphology, and structure of the samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The textural characteristics of materials were studied by BET and EDX. The sorption properties of disubstituted pharmacosiderite-type titanosilicates toward cesium and strontium radionuclides in microconcentrations were studied in adsorption experiments from model solutions of liquid radioactive waste (LRW) with low and medium concentrations of interfering impurities.
