OCEAN'S VIOLET BREATH AS AN INDICATOR OF GLOBAL AND REGIONAL CHANGES IN THE EARTH'S ECOSYSTEM
The paper considers the long-term variability of remote sensing reflectance at 412 nm RRS(412) in several fixed subtropical regions of the World Ocean. For a separate region, the area occupied by waters with a high RRS(412) value is maximum for the local summer and minimum for the local winter. This behavior of the marine ecosystem is called "the violet breath of the ocean". The significance of this phenomenon is that its anomalies on different time scales reflect the ocean's response to global changes in the Earth's ecosystem, occurring both in individual regions of the planet and as a whole.
