USING THE WRF MODEL TO ESTIMATE THE DEPOSITED WATER VAPOR OVER THE SAYAN SOLAR OBSERVATORY AND HULUGAISHA PEAK

Precipitated water vapor (PWV) is the main gas leading to atmospheric opacity for millimeter and submillimeter astronomy. This study attempts to use the mesoscale Weather Research and Forecasting model to effectively assess the PWV content in order to determine conditions at existing observatory locations and identify promising sites for the deployment of a new large millimeter telescope.

Abstract

Precipitated water vapor (PWV) is the main gas leading to atmospheric opacity for millimeter and submillimeter astronomy. This study attempts to use the mesoscale Weather Research and Forecasting model to effectively assess the PWV content in order to determine conditions at existing observatory locations and identify promising sites for the deployment of a new large millimeter telescope.
