THE INFLUENCE OF THE NUMBER AND SPATIAL ARRANGEMENT OF PARTICLES ON THE OPTICAL MODEL OF COMPLEX AGGREGATES FOR THE INTERPRETATION OF LASER POLARIZATION SOUNDING DATA OF CIRRUS CLOUDS

This paper presents a solution for modeling the optical characteristics of particles of complex aggregates consisting of two, three, four and five elements, where an element is a particle of arbitrary shape and fixed size. The study is aimed at identifying the effect of the number and spatial arrangement of particles on their optical properties. In this paper, the size of a single element was 10 μm, and the wavelength was taken to be 1.064 μm. A statistical study of the optical characteristics of such particles was conducted, as well as a comparative analysis with a reference particle from previous studies devoted to irregularly shaped particles.

Abstract

This paper presents a solution for modeling the optical characteristics of particles of complex aggregates consisting of two, three, four and five elements, where an element is a particle of arbitrary shape and fixed size. The study is aimed at identifying the effect of the number and spatial arrangement of particles on their optical properties. In this paper, the size of a single element was 10 μm, and the wavelength was taken to be 1.064 μm. A statistical study of the optical characteristics of such particles was conducted, as well as a comparative analysis with a reference particle from previous studies devoted to irregularly shaped particles.
