Surface Water Frequency Product of the Tibetan Plateau from 1982 to 2023
<p indent="0mm">As the ″Water Tower of Asia,″ the Tibetan Plateau plays a crucial role in the global water cycle and is a key focus of global change research. This study utilizes a priori knowledge-based rapid surface water extraction algorithm to obtain surface water information from 22261 scenes of Landsat 4, Landsat 5, Landsat 8, and Landsat 9 satellite images taken from 1982 to 2023 to produce a 30-meter resolution surface-water frequency product for the Tibetan Plateau. After data quality assessment, the overall accuracy of the surface water frequency product for the Tibetan Plateau is 91.92%, with a Kappa coefficient of 0.88. This product, offering surface water distribution and frequency information, can serve as fundamental data support for water resource monitoring, ecological environment protection, and climate change research on the Tibetan Plateau.
