Blepharitis and conjunctivitis: what you need to know about the most common diseases of the anterior segment of the eye
The review is focused on a detailed analysis of blepharitis and conjunctivitis (i. e., two common inflammatory diseases of the anterior segment of the eye that have a significant impact on the quality of life). The diseases are characterized by a wide range of symptoms varying from mild discomfort to severe visual impairment that significantly limits daily activities. It's worth noting that blepharitis and conjunctivitis occur in all populations, regardless of age. Therefore, their study is especially relevant. The purpose of this review is to present advanced approaches to diagnosis and treatment of these diseases drawing on the most recent scientific data and clinical experience of an ophthalmologist. The study will provide a comprehensive analysis of prevalence of blepharitis and conjunctivitis, as well as assessment of efficiency of various therapeutic strategies. The authors describe both conventional treatment methods and ophthalmological innovations which help to improve the prognosis and to mitigate potential complications. KEYWORDS: blepharitis, conjunctivitis, antibacterial therapy, seborrheic dermatitis, demodectic blepharitis, dexamethasone, tobramycin. FOR CITATION: Chernyakova T.V., Kuroyedov A.V., Volobueva T.M.
