ANALYSIS OF SOME LABOR INDICATORS IN THE CONTEXT OF WORLD REGIONS

Labor is a source of human and social well-being, it acts as a measure of social justice in the distribution of total income. Monitoring the dynamics of labor incomes of the population and their share in the gross domestic product (GDP) of different countries and regions indicates the degree to which the UN Sustainable Development Goals have been achieved: No. 8 “Decent work and economic growth” and No. 10 “Reducing inequality”. The article shows that the dynamics of labor indicators is a rather complex picture reflecting the diversity of economic situations and conditions in different regions of the world. In 2010–2023, there were trends of decreasing unemployment and employment growth in the world, which indicates some general improvement in the labor market and living standards in a number of countries. However, the rate of this growth and the nature of employment vary significantly depending on the world’s regions and the specifics of their economic development. There is a downward trend in the growth of real GDP per capita, and the deterioration of labor rights. In some countries, especially with developed economies and stable infrastructure, income growth is moderate and steady, providing citizens with an increase in living standards and less social differentiation. At the same time, in countries with developing or unstable economies, the growth rates of labor incomes and the nature of employment are ambiguous — there is stagnation or even a decrease in the share of labor incomes in GDP, there is gender inequality and ageism, which contributes to an increase in global social and economic inequality. As a result of the study, the authors concluded that despite the overall increase in employment, significant differences between the world’s regions persist, which requires further measures to ensure a more equitable distribution of wealth and income in all corners of the planet.
