These few lines deal with the need to revisit the Tifinagh alphabet, as a semiotic object, in light of the demands of modernity. It will be a question of of investigating (and wondering about) this object through the symbolic significance that it has conveyed throughout History. What is the basis of this symbolic significance? Would this be the same today? What are the relationships of this writing with other alphabets? Its contribution to the constitution of these needs to be reviewed and its role has been too neglected on the scale of all of North Africa, the Sahara and the Mediterranean rim in the development of the writing signs in circulation in this region of the world.
