In Understanding Confinement Effects in EWOD of DI Water and Ionic Liquids
Electrowetting on digital devices (EWOD) has always been a key research focus in the microfluidics community because of its extraordinary capability of moving droplets without any mechanical rotating and translating parts. In this research, we have captured the effect of sidewall wetting property on droplet motion in EWOD both experimentally and numerically. Results underscore that sidewall surface wettability and droplet viscosity significantly dictates droplet propagation and deformation pattern. This research provides critical insights and practical guidelines for optimizing EWODbased microfluidic device performance, emphasizing improved precision and reliability in droplet management.
