Leveraging Supply Chain Management for Performance Improvement:The case of Guji Highland Coffee Plantation Experience in East Guji Zone
Supply chain management (SCM) plays a critical role in enhancing operational efficiency and improving performance in agribusiness sectors. This study examines the impact of SCM practices on performance improvement at Guji Highland Coffee Plantation Company in Ethiopia’s East Guji Zone. Despite the country’s strong reputation in coffee production, inefficiencies in supplier coordination, infrastructure bottlenecks, and ineffective decision-making processes continue to hinder productivity and profitability. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, integrating qualitative and quantitative analysis, to assess the relationship between decision-making, infrastructure, and supplier-customer relations in supply chain performance. Findings reveal that structured decision-making strategies contribute significantly to operational efficiency, while weak supplier engagement and poor infrastructure remain key challenges. The study underscores the importance of integrating technology-driven solutions, fostering supplier collaboration, and implementing policy reforms to optimize supply chain performance. The results provide valuable insights for agribusiness managers, policymakers, and researchers seeking to enhance supply chain efficiency in Ethiopia’s coffee industry.
