A Noble Route Discovery Technique in UAV based Delay Tolerant Network for Disaster Management
Delay-tolerant networking (DTN) is a computer network architecture that aims to address technical issues in networks that may not have continuous connectivity. DTNs are designed to operate in extreme conditions and over large distances, such as space communications. DTNs were introduced in 2003 to address the huge delays involved in deep space communications. These delays can't be handled by existing networking technologies and must be handled at the application level. DTNs use information within the data stream to accomplish end-to-end data delivery through network nodes. They form a network with "storage-carry-forward" characteristics, which is tolerant of intermittent connectivity, large delay, and high error rate links. In the face of disasters, communication infrastructures are often disrupted, severely limiting connectivity and hindering relief efforts. Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) have emerged as a solution for communication in such scenarios by enabling message delivery in the absence of continuous end-to-end connectivity. This paper introduces a novel route discovery algorithm tailored for DTNs, specifically designed to enhance communication reliability and efficiency in disaster management scenarios. The proposed algorithm leverages a hybrid approach, combining network topology awareness with dynamic message forwarding strategies to optimize routing paths in unpredictable and resource-constrained environments. Through extensive simulations and evaluations, the algorithm demonstrates superior performance in terms of message delivery ratio, latency, and network overhead compared to existing methodologies. The innovation showcased in this algorithm aims to significantly contribute to the advancement of communication strategies crucial for effective disaster management in challenging and volatile environments to optimized route from source to destination. Opportunistic Network Environment (ONE) simulator is used for simulation and performance analysis.
