Analyzing Patterns in Athletic Performance: Data Mining and Machine Learning Applications in Athletic Training
Athletic training has evolved with the integration of technology and data analytics, enabling a deeper understanding of performance patterns and strategies. This study leverages data mining and machine learning techniques to analyze large-scale performance data from competitive and training environments. A robust data pipeline was developed to preprocess and manage data efficiently, with feature engineering employed to extract actionable insights. Classification models were used to predict training results, regression models explored the relationship between training methods and performance improvements, and k-means clustering grouped training strategies by the effectiveness and adaptability of the athlete. The findings reveal patterns and trends that help to refine training protocols, improve athlete readiness, and tailor interventions for individual and team performance. This study highlights the potential of advanced analytics in athletic training, paving the way for improved performance strategies, personalized coaching, and resource optimization for athletes and trainers.
