DEVELOPMENT OF VEGETABLE GROWING IN THE WORLD: TRENDS AND PROBLEMS OF RISK MANAGEMENT AT ENTERPRISES OF THE INDUSTRY IN CONDITIONS OF ARID CLIMATE
This article examines a number of issues related to the development of vegetable growing in the world, identifying the observed trends and problems of risk management at enterprises in this industry in an arid climate. Based on the data from the FAO statistical database for the indicated analysis period, the change in the volume and structure (by country) of global gross vegetable harvests was investigated. The authors found that during the announced time, the production of this food subgroup increased 1,31 times: from 891,168 million tons to 1171,283 million tons. In 2022, the top ten vegetable producers included China with 610,722 million tons (52,14% of the world total), India with 145,103 million tons (12,39%), the United States with 29,414 million tons (2,51%), Turkey with 26,607 million tons (2,27%), Vietnam with 17,778 million tons (1,52%), Egypt — 17,644 million tons (1,51%), Nigeria — 16,177 million tons (1,38%), Mexico — 14,757 million tons (1,26%), Russia — 13,231 million tons (1,13%), Indonesia — 13,213 million tons (1,13%). The authors identified a number of risks and related problems faced by enterprises in the industry operating in arid climates, including in the designated countries.
