FACTORS AFFECTING THE GROSS REGIONAL PRODUCT OF THE VOLGOGRAD REGION

Socio-economic development is a complex and multifaceted process that encompasses various aspects of society and requires constant government oversight. In the current conditions, characterized by active digitalization and the need for rapid adaptation due to rapid changes, the issue of identifying and evaluating factors affecting the economic performance of both the whole country and the regions in particular is becoming acute. The most significant generalizing economic indicator by region is the gross regional product, which reflects the level of production and allows us to assess the pace of economic development of the subject: for this reason, the gross regional product (GRP) of the research object, the Volgograd region, was chosen as the targeted indicator of the study. The relevance of the study of the socio-economic development of the region is characterized by several reasons: firstly, the regions represent a driving force for the development of the country, they are special economic entities through which various government programs are implemented, and whose activities make it possible to achieve an increase in the economic efficiency of the entire state. Secondly, the regions of the Russian Federation are currently characterized by uneven development depending on available resources, geographical location and other aspects, which necessitates the development of measures to improve the socio-economic situation of individual regions, taking into account all the specifics. As part of the study, a correlation analysis of the indicators of socio-economic development of the Volgograd region relative to the GRP of the region was carried out, the results of which showed the presence of a strong relationship between these indicators. The identification of factors influencing the region's generalizing economic indicator, GRP, is of practical importance, since it allows us to identify control points that must be taken into account when forming a strategy for the socio-economic development of the region. The analysis of social and economic indicators together makes it possible to more accurately assess the current state of the region and predict its development.
