Generative Artificial Intelligence and its Leap into Diabetes Management
Artificial intelligence (AI) has transitioned from theoretical explorations to a transformative force driving innovation across multiple industries. Generative AI, a specialized subset, showcases exceptional capabilities in generating content, such as text, images, and music, and solving complex problems. In health care, AI is revolutionizing diabetes management by enabling continuous glucose monitoring, personalized treatment plans, and affordable insulin delivery solutions. These advancements are particularly significant for resource-limited settings like India, where cost-effective, scalable, and accessible solutions are critical. From AI-driven predictive algorithms to the development of affordable three-dimensional-printed insulin pumps, the technology is democratizing healthcare innovation. Despite these benefits, challenges persist in addressing fears related to job displacement, data privacy, and misuse. Furthermore, legal barriers surrounding accountability, intellectual property, and compliance with data protection laws require immediate attention. This paper explores the transformative potential of AI in healthcare, emphasizing its role in diabetes management while highlighting the ethical, legal, and social considerations essential for its responsible integration.
