Bonding mediated coupling of electron band mass and phonon group velocity: an effective strategy to improve the thermoelectric performance of solid solutions

A judicious choice of alloying and doping elements can significantly enhance thermoelectric performance. This is due to the simultaneous effects of band flattening, phonon softening and lower scattering that occur due to the chemical substitution.
