A comprehensive analysis of security overview for network slicing of 5G networks
The fifth-generation (5G) mobile network facilitates access to a diverse range of services, each of which has distinct requirements regarding speed, capacity, reliability, and latency. Utilising the identical physical infrastructure for multiple applications presents challenges for older networks. Slicing the network, a dependable feature of network virtualisation enables the provision of distinct resources to each service and increases service diversity. With a single physical infrastructure, network administrators are capable of establishing multiple logical networks. The security of network slicing is a major concern due to the ability to provide tailored services with varying security rules, standards, and requirements. Consequently, when designing and implementing security protocols, it is critical to consider the potential repercussions of these security vulnerabilities on network segments. It is essential to address these concerns to maintain optimal performance and quality while safeguarding the security and privacy of users. This article elucidates the potential security vulnerabilities linked to slicing 5G networks and provides suggestions for life-cycle, intra-slice, and inter-slice security. Furthermore, we address the present security concerns associated with network slicing.
