Penil kanser hakkında YouTube videolarının kalite ve güvenilirlik analizi

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the quality and reliability of YouTube videos on penile cancer for patient education MATERIAL and METHODS: A YouTube search using the keyword “penile cancer” was conducted. The first 100 videos were reviewed, excluding non-English, promotional, or duplicate videos, leaving 52 videos for analysis. Videos were evaluated using DISCERN and JAMA Benchmark criteria. Statistical analyses were performed to compare the data. RESULTS: Of the videos, 52% were uploaded by physicians, 42% by health-related websites, and 6% by patients. According to DISCERN, 15% of videos were rated as “excellent,” 15% as “good,” 35% as “fair,” and 18% as “poor.” Physician-uploaded videos had higher DISCERN reliability and treatment scores compared to other sources. Video duration positively correlated with quality scores. CONCLUSION: While YouTube holds potential for patient education, most existing content lacks comprehensive and patient-centered information. This increases the responsibility of healthcare professionals to produce high-quality content. Keywords: penile cancer, YouTube, DISCERN
