İnfertilite nedenine göre kadınlarda kafein tüketimi ve tercih nedenleri arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to compare the daily caffeine consumption levels, consumption motives, and information sources of women diagnosed with infertility, according to the underlying cause of infertility (explained vs. unexplained). MATERIALS and METHODS: The study was conducted in the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Unit of with 150 women. The data were collected with the isodemographic characteristics determination form and the caffeine use-specific data collection form. RESULTS: A significant difference was found between the distribution of findings regarding women’s reasons for caffeine consumption (p=0.001). It was determined that it was consumed “for taste” in the infertile women group whose reason was explained, and “to feel better” in the infertile women group whose reason was not explained. When the daily caffeine use of women in both groups was evaluated, no significant difference was seen between the two groups (p=0.567). CONCLUSION: It is important to understand the risky behaviors of women in terms of reproductive health, to determine the factors affecting these behaviors and to develop preventive strategies. Keywords: infertility, women, caffeine, risk factors, life style
