Ultrasonic Blind Walking Stick - A Smart Assistive Device for the Visually Impaired Individuals

—The visually impaired community faces significant mobility challenges that impact their independence. Traditional white canes offer basic obstacle detection but lack advanced features. This research presents an Ultrasonic Blind Walking Stick, integrating ultrasonic sensors, water detection, light sensors, and IoT connectivity to improve navigation safety. The model includes RF-based stick retrieval and smartphone-based remote monitoring using the ESP8266 Wi-Fi module. The device enhances safety by providing real-time alerts through buzzers and notifications via the Blynk IoT platform. This paper discusses the methodology, implementation, results, and future scope of this assistive technology.
