The ethical vulnerabilities of doctoral studies

The organization of doctoral studies is one of the significant hallmarks of knowledge production, the formation of scientific discourse and the advancement of the creative process. This lecture is about the ethical vulnerabilities of the configuration of these studies from the perspective of the institution, the supervisor and the PhD student. I will consider the ethics of research, the supervisor-student relation and the philosophy evaluating scientific work. The situation of doctoral studies in the field of Performing Arts-Theatre differs from one institution to another, but what should not differ is the conceptual clarity through which the student is encouraged, guided, evaluated so that the final result is meaningful, produces an advance of knowledge and, why not, proposes something applicable in the practical sphere. In this lecture I will examine the ethical vulnerabilities that arise from the effects of legislation or from the imperfect, incorrect way in which doctoral studies are conducted.
