MONOARTICULAR MULTIDRUG RESISTANT WRIST TB IN POST RENAL TRANSPLANT PATIENT: UNIQUE FIRST CASE REPORTED IN INDIA
Extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB ) is an underdiagnosed and ambiguous disease entity which can affect any organ of the human body with heterogeneous clinical presentation. Wrist tuberculosis is one such rare presentation . Immunocompromised status like post organ transplantation or previous history of pulmonary tuberculosis is a risk factor for contracting or reactivation of dormant tuberculosis . Here, we report a unique case of Multidrug resistant tuberculosis ( MDR) wrist EPTB with Isoniazid( INH ) resistance which as per literature happens to be first case to be reported in the Country. There is rise in the cases of drug resitance in EPTB in the country leading to increased disability and morbidity. Every active tuberculosis case should be tested for drug resistance as in accordance with the health strategy of universal drug sensitivity testing ( DST) at the time of initiation of antitubercular treatment.
