Recovered gold on biomass-based hierarchical porous carbon as a catalyst for 5-hydroxymethylfurfural oxidation

A sustainable and eco-friendly gold nanocatalyst for HMF oxidation was prepared using recovered Au leachate and a biomass-based carbon support. The recovered gold catalyst achieved a 97.3% yield of FDCA under an oxygen pressure of 0.1 MPa.
