Development of technological parameters for formation of modified layers based on high-strength particles for cylindrical parts

The paper presents the results on the selection of parameters for the formation of modified layers using boron-containing pastes for hardening cylindrical parts. Structural steels 50 and 12X18H9T were selected as reinforcing model materials. The formation of hardened layers was carried out by 2 methods: exposure to high-frequency currents and an electron beam released into the air atmosphere. Strengthening compounds were applied in the form of pastes consisting of metal and boron powders, as well as surfactants and glue. After treatment with high-frequency currents, the thickness of the modified layer ranges from 16 to 100 microns and a microhardness of 2 GPa, no borides were found in the structure. Layers containing borides with a thickness of 2000 microns and a microhardness of up to 5 GPa were formed by the method of non-vacuum electron beam treatment.

Layers containing borides with a thickness of 2000 microns and a microhardness of up to 5 GPa were formed by the method of non-vacuum electron beam treatment.
