Analysis of results of using milling tools of high hardness parts workpieces. Part 1

The need for milling hard-to-process surfacing is growing due to the expansion of the field of application of materials with a gradient of properties, namely, having a sharp increase in the hardness of the surface layer relative to the base layer. The article discusses the features of milling such surfacings having a hardness of 65 HRC and higher. The possibilities of using tool coatings for milling these surfacings are considered.

Abstract

The need for milling hard-to-process surfacing is growing due to the expansion of the field of application of materials with a gradient of properties, namely, having a sharp increase in the hardness of the surface layer relative to the base layer. The article discusses the features of milling such surfacings having a hardness of 65 HRC and higher. The possibilities of using tool coatings for milling these surfacings are considered.
