Comparative analysis of changes in metal structure and distribution of alloying elements during single- and dual-arc surfacing in gas mixture

The features of alloying element distribution and metal structure in a layer deposited with a corrosion-resistant alloy on structural steel are considered. Since the productivity of single-arc surfacing is limited by the permissible content of the substrate material impurity in the deposited layer at a high arc current, and, consequently, by the penetration depth, it is recommended to perform surfacing in two layers. It is shown that with more productive dual-arc surfacing in one layer, its chemical composition differs little from the content of elements in the second layer during single-arc surfacing. It is established that, due to the small proportion of metal crystallizing by the austenitic-ferritic mechanism, the corrosion resistance of the layer during dual-arc surfacing is higher than during single-arc surfacing.
