MONITORING OF WATER RESOURCES IN UZBEKISTAN AND PROSPECTS FOR THE USE OF ION-EXCHANGE PLANTS FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT

This study focuses on monitoring water resources in Uzbekistan, particularly those affected by industrial wastewater discharges. The results show that the concentrations of several harmful substances (ammonium nitrogen (NH₄⁺), nitrite nitrogen (NO₂⁻), phosphates (PO₄³⁻), iron (Fe), and water hardness) in rivers and canals exceed permissible standards, indicating serious environmental concerns. To address these issues, the authors propose the use of ion-exchange treatment systems at industrial facilities as an effective method for reducing the pollution of wastewater discharged into natural water bodies. The performance of an experimental unit designed for the treatment of wastewater with varying compositions is examined. The results confirm the feasibility and efficiency of this technology, highlighting the importance of implementing modern treatment solutions to mitigate environmental impacts and protect public health.
