Етнографски поглед към международния фестивал на фолклорната носия в Жеравна – скок във времето или бягство от реалността

The article contains a brief history of the festival and a typology of reasons for the increased public interest in such events. The article refers to phenomena such as the idealization of the past and the mass nostalgia on it. Some of the deficits in our present life, which make the festivals so attractive and popular, are outlined. A special place is dedicated to the young and their co-experience with the festival reality. A brief overview of the commercial realization of such an event is made. The article also explores the reflection of the festival on the life of the village during and after. Several analogues have been mentioned in a European context.
