Research on Consumer Rights Protection in Prepaid Consumption
With the rapid development of Internet technology, the prepaid consumption mode has also developed rapidly and penetrated many industries. Prepaid consumption refers to the situation where a business operator promises to provide consumers with certain discounts, and consumers pay a certain amount in advance. Afterward, they can enjoy the products or services provided by the business operator in multiple installments with the prepaid voucher. This consumption model greatly simplifies the transaction process between both parties and can meet the interests of both operators and consumers: for operators, the prepaid consumption model can quickly recover their funds, stabilize customer sources, and quickly seize the market. For consumers, this consumption model is often accompanied by significant discount activities, and settlement is convenient and fast. Therefore, the prepaid consumption model has gained the favor of many operators and consumers, and its development momentum is rapid. However, at the same time, the consumption chaos caused by this model has been increasing in recent years, such as operators abusing standard terms, “running away” after receiving payments, and arbitrarily adding hidden conditions, which seriously damages the legitimate rights and interests of consumers and disrupts market transaction order. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the chaos of consumption in the prepaid consumption model, explore its causes, and study how to effectively protect the interests of consumers in this model.
