UNUTRAŠNjI RASCJEP STANKOVIĆEVIH JUNAKA IZMEĐU STRASTI I DUŽNOSTI
In almost all of his prose texts, Stanković dealt with the hero’s internal split between passion and duty, emphasized eroticism, and a pronounced prohibition embodied in patriarchal morality. He very bravely criticized the hypocrisy of that morality, which usually hid material interest. The strict prohibitions that were the basis of that morality completely destroyed Staković’s heroes, leading to a general first physical and then spiritual decay. Studying the importance of the manifestation of the body and physicality in Stanković we concluded that Stanković is really the first representative of modernism in Serbian prose. By introducing themes such as: sexuality, body, intimacy, identity and criticism of traditional values, he opened the way for great writers of Serbian modernism such as Crnjanski, Rastko Petrović, Stanislav Vinaver and many others. Thanks to the exceptional interpretation of Georges Bataille, we tried to shed light on these topics without prejudice, as just one way of manifesting the transgression related to the sacred world in relation to the prohibition embodied in the world of the profane. Bora Stanković’s prose achieves its greatest scope precisely in depicting eroticism as one of the most significant aspects of human life.
