Performance Evaluation of Energy Detector Based Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio
Cognitive radio introduces a novel approach to efficiently repurpose spectrum resources opportunistically. Recent evaluations of spectrum usage, which have shown unrealized potential in terms of frequency, time, and space, are the inspiration behind this idea. However, incorporating cognitive radios into a primary network inherently leads to heightened interference for primary users. To mitigate this issue, secondary users are required to skillfully sense the spectrum and identify primary users signals even in conditions of extremely low Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), ensuring minimal interference which is called as Spectrum sensing. In this work, Energy detector based spectrum sensing is developed for Neyman-Pearson detector, Bayes detector and the performance of these detectors are evaluated.
