Enhancing Fraud Detection and Prevention using Advanced Deep Learning Algorithms
Fraud detection has turned into a pressing concern for the digital era, with online platforms and banks increasingly exposed to sophisticated fraudulent threats. Traditional machine learning techniques and rule-based mechanisms are largely bounded by their reliance on static patterns and hand-tuned features. In this paper, we report an analysis of how one can leverage the state-of-the-art deep learning models to tackle fraud prevention. We explore a variety of architectures—including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for feature extraction, Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks for capturing sequential dependencies, and Graph Neural Networks or GNNs for modeling relational data inherent in transaction networks. We introduce a new hybrid model that combines these methods with state-of-the-art anomaly detection techniques. Our experiments on benchmark datasets show significant detection accuracy improvements and a reduction in false positives over traditional methods. We conclude with a discussion of challenges, potential enhancements, and future research directions.
