A Concept to Reality: New Horizons in Alzheimer’s Assistive Devices

The creation of a cutting-edge assistance device intended for enhancing the security and well-being of Alzheimer's sufferers is outlined in this research. There are two parts to the system architecture. The first segment incorporates an ESP32-CAM for recognizing faces and patient picture capture, delivering data to an OLED screen over Bluetooth. Segment two, worn on the patient’s arm, includes a GSM for telecommunication, a heartbeat sensor, a real-time clock for time display, pill remainder, and an MPU6050 inertial measurement unit for fall detection. Emergency buttons are incorporated: Button 1 sends a geotagged alert message, and Button 2 initiates a call to the caregiver. The IMU senses falls and offers position information to the caretaker, as PPG sensor tracks heart activity and sends alarms for abnormalities. The I2C protocol facilitates interaction among components. The device's potential to improve patient safety and caretaker assurance is demonstrated, which elaborates on its complex design and connectivity.
