Design of Fire Detection System with Extended Range

A fire alarm system has number of devices that work together to detect and alert people by siren sound or buzzer in the event of a fire, carbon monoxide, smoke and any other emergencies. This alarm system gets activated by using detectors or sensors such as fire sensors, smoke sensors, temperature sensors etc. Smoke sensor detects if there is any gas present in the room. The temperature sensor detects the temperature of the room. Advancement in the fire detection system has been substantial over the last decade because of advances in sensors, information technologies, microelectronics as well as understanding in fire physics. This work includes advanced fire detection system design and its hardware implementation. The design involves the application of emerging sensor technologies such as temperature sensors, smoke sensors, fire sensors, signal processing, monitoring technology and integrated fire detection system. In recent years, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and next-generation sensor technology have advanced significantly and thus improving the fire detection accuracy, reduced false alarms and extended detection range. This paper discusses AIbased fire detection, drone-assisted surveillance, IoT-enabled monitoring, and wireless sensor networks (WSNs) to enhance fire detection in large-scale and complex environments.
