Development and Implementation of an Arduino-Based Celestial Object Tracking System Utilizing Additively Manufactured Components
This paper describes the design and implementation of a star and planet tracking system utilizing Arduino microcontroller and stepper motor technology. The system facilitates precise tracking of celestial objects by inputting their coordinates via a serial interface. Additionally, it features a laser pointer mechanism integrated to visually indicate the targeted object, enhancing user experience. Notably, the design integrates 3D printed components, offering improved customization and scalability potential. By leveraging Arduino’s versatility and stepper motor precision, the system achieves reliable and accurate tracking performance. The incorporation of 3D printing enables flexibility in component design and facilitates cost-effective prototyping. Overall, this system represents an accessible and adaptable solution for astronomy enthusiasts seeking to explore celestial objects with precision and ease. Its combination of Arduino technology, stepper motor control, and 3D printing showcases the synergy of modern hardware platforms for innovative applications in astronomy and beyond.
