In order to cater to the need of rising urban cases the concept of start class have been formulated. However, smart cities had to ensure that they follow the parameters of sustainability. Here the smart cities could learn from the sustainable features of the ancient Indian cities like Indus cities, Pataliputra, Ujjain etc. Some of the features are green urban space, water and waste management, decentralized governance etc. However, to meet modern society's needs, these features must be integrated with AI, blockchain, and IoT. The paper suggests the integration of ancient sustainable features with modern technologies to be further enhance the sustainability of smart cities.
