Investigating the impact and emerging trends of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the bioenergy sector
A bibliometric analysis was conducted to assess the impact of publication on bioenergy research trends utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) from 1991 to 2024. A total of 1,721 publications were extract as of the Web of Science, as well as various factors such as countries, authorship, institutions, journals, and keywords were analyzed and visualized. This field has seen significant growth in recent decades, with India emerging as the leading country, followed by Iran, China, and the United States. The study highlighted notable distinctions between the research trends in developed and non-developed country. Developed nations initially controlled the field, focusing on AI for feedstock Investigation and analysis of effects, while developing countries emphasized feedstock treatment, process optimization, and advancing the field. Coauthorship and institutional collaboration analysis showed limited cooperation between distant regions. Journal analysis revealed strong connections with Energy, Fuel and energy transformation and management. ML, particularly artificial neural networks (ANNs), emerged as the most prevalent AI application, appearing in 72% of related articles.
