A Smart Web Application for Real-Time Beach Suitability and Ocean Condition Monitoring using Machine Learning and Geospatial Visualization

Coastal regions are popular tourist destinations but face challenges due to unpredictable environmental and oceanographic conditions. This paper introduces a smart web application for real-time beach suitability assessment and ocean condition monitoring, integrating data from the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS). The application combines geospatial visualization tools and machine learning algorithms to analyze critical parameters such as wave heights, ocean currents, wind speeds, and water quality. It provides personalized recommendations for safe coastal activities, promoting sustainable tourism and safeguarding visitors. Evaluation of the prototype across selected Indian beaches demonstrated its effectiveness in delivering accurate and actionable insights for stakeholders.

Abstract

Coastal regions are popular tourist destinations but face challenges due to unpredictable environmental and oceanographic conditions. This paper introduces a smart web application for real-time beach suitability assessment and ocean condition monitoring, integrating data from the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS). The application combines geospatial visualization tools and machine learning algorithms to analyze critical parameters such as wave heights, ocean currents, wind speeds, and water quality. It provides personalized recommendations for safe coastal activities, promoting sustainable tourism and safeguarding visitors.
