UAV PID Controller Optimization for Improved Flight Stability: Simulation and Analysis
Unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs, commonly referred to as quadcopters, have grown in popularity recently because of their accessibility and adaptability. Quadcopters have a wide range of applications in various fields, including photography, agriculture, search and rescue, surveillance, delivery, mapping, environmental monitoring, and entertainment. But as these are unmanned vehicles therefore the need for precise and robust control mechanism is of highest priority for better control of these vehicles. In this paper, we present a comprehensive study on dynamic modeling, simulation, optimization of a quadcopter and its control using a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller. The quadcopter model is developed using mathematical equations that describe the quadcopter's dynamics, including its rotational and translational motion. The model is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink to study the quadcopter's behavior under different conditions. The simulation's outcomes show how well the PID controller stabilizes the quadcopter and keeps it in the required attitude.
