Model Based Robust Adaptive Dynamic Programming Control Design for Electromagnetic Levitation System
In this article, the design of an adaptive dynamic programming robust linear quadratic regulator (ADP-RLQR) control methodology for an electromagnetic levitation system (EMLS) is presented. This approach aims to track reference trajectories and effectively maintain stability under challenging conditions. The EMLS inherently exhibits a strongly nonlinear and unstable dynamic. This technique creates approximately optimal feedback control strategies using adaptive dynamic programming. It relies on an approximate solution to the Hamilton–Jacobi Bellman equation to navigate the complexities of dynamic systems and achieve effective outcomes. The model-based adaptive dynamic, robust control technique calculates optimal feedback controls based on known system dynamics. The ADP also offers multiple configuration options, enabling it to accommodate a variety of customized operational scenarios. The analysis of the simulation results reveals that the proposed control scheme plays a crucial role in maintaining the stability of the levitated object. It adeptly manages various disturbances and uncertainties encountered within the Electromagnetic Levitation System (EMLS) framework, ensuring the object’s steady performance even in challenging conditions. This capability highlights the effectiveness of the control strategy in enhancing overall system reliability and robustness.
