Optimizing Real-Time Communication using LoRa Protocols

In agriculture, disaster management, environmental monitoring, and so on, effective communication is important for progress. In traditional communication systems, there are many problems particularly in the places where cellular networks and Wi-Fi are either unavailable or unreliable. These issues point out the necessity of innovative solutions able to overcome these barriers and to be efficient and affordable. The Long Range Communication Using LoRa (LoRa) project is based on LoRa (Long Range) technology that establishes a reliable, low power and long distance communication network. Because LoRa can work on unlicensed frequency bands and have low power consumption, it is especially suited for areas without infrastructure. The RYLR998 LoRa module is integrated into the ESP32 microcontroller as an intermediate for the LoRa network and Android devices with Bluetooth. Bluetooth interface is simple and user friendly interface which allows data to be transmitted as well as visualized through an Android application. The application of this system is possible in precision agriculture, disaster management and environmental monitoring in areas with sparse or no current network infrastructure providing reliable communications. This project illustrates how LoRa technology can be a cost effective and scalable method to deliver real time communication in the under served regions.
