High Efficiency High Step-Up PWM Non-Isolated DC/DC Converter with SS

This paper proposes an innovative PWM-driven NI DC/DC Converter configuration that provides remarkably high conversion efficiency and SS capability, even for traditional boost converters. Conventional boost converters usually have high voltage stress on switching devices and diodes, HE losses at high duty cycle and high switching losses. The proposed converter features a nonlinear voltage gain that provides efficient voltage step-up conversion with reduced output voltage overshoot and voltage stress on components. Using a connected inductor, switched capacitor, and additional clamped diode in topology, conduction loss can be reduced and efficiency can be improved. A double pole double throw (DPDT) switch configuration is used to reduce circuit complexity and cost. In addition, the converter features an energy recuperation from reverse recovery and from output diode leakage inductance (which enhance efficiency figures). This converter is well suited for renewable energy systems like solar panels, fuel cells, and photovoltaic arrays, as it is well suited for generating very high voltage gain from low voltage sources. The performance verification is carried out in PSIM software. The simulation parameters are determined with 24V input and 250V, 125W output. The results show the performance of the converter in terms of maintaining a low voltage stress on the components, thus confirming that the proposed solution can be a low-cost and efficient candidate for high voltage step-up conversion in renewable energy applications.
