Flexidrone: Revolutionizing Emergency Response in Natural Calamities
During the times of natural calamities such as earthquakes, it is required that a quick and effective response be deployed to save lives. The recent years have shown the capabilities of drones to reach such emergency-prone areas. This paper aims to highlight the features of a newly designed Drone system which can perform rescue operations during emergency situations that occur due to natural disasters such as landslides, earthquakes and in case of accidental scenarios such as building breakdown, fire etc. The system hardware is equipped with multiple components namely: an IR sensor, a camera, a flight controller, a global positioning system (GPS), a remote controller and a data acquisition system to collect precise data from the affected area. These sensors enable the drone to get an estimate of the terrain, detect potential hazards, and identify the location of trapped individuals. Additionally, it is also designed to have means to carry small weights such as medicines, food packets, etc. The performance of the drone is tested for various parameters such as accuracy of the reported GPS coordinates, range from ground station and maximum height.
