Designing Ultra-Wide-Band MIMO Antenna between 25 to 55 GHz for 5G Applications

This research introduces a compact and efficient multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna designed for millimeter-wave (mmWave) 5G applications. The proposed design operates over an ultra-wideband (UWB) frequency range of 25–55 GHz, leveraging Defective Ground Structure (DGS) technology for enhanced performance. The antenna's small size (20 mm × 20 mm × 0.5 mm) facilitates integration into a wide range of communication devices. The orthogonal arrangement of the antenna elements minimizes mutual coupling, thereby improving diversity characteristics. Performance metrics, such as S-parameters and diversity parameters, demonstrate excellent agreement between experimental and simulated results, validating the antenna's suitability for 5G mmWave applications. Its low mutual coupling, high isolation, and broad bandwidth establish this design as an ideal candidate for next- generation communication systems.
