6G Green IoT: Sensing-Driven Passive Reflective Symbiotic Communication
Reconfigurable intelligent surface-enabled symbiotic ambient backscatter communication is emerging as a cutting-edge solution for green IoT. In this context, to achieve the ultimate goal of the Internet-of-Everything in the upcoming 6G, this article proposes a sensing-driven passive reflective symbiotic communication (PRSC) framework, which enhances the stability of symbiotic communication by introducing sensing nodes to dynamically monitor changes in IoT devices and the surrounding environment. Specifically, the general symbiotic communication frameworks are first reviewed and compared. Afterwards, the core idea of PRSC and its potential use cases, as well as the key technologies involved, are presented. Future challenges and directions for more efficient PRSC in 6G IoT are also discussed.
