MODELING OF DISCONTINOUS LAMINATES BASED ON PERIDYNAMICS

Peridynamics is a relatively new, non-local extension of classical continuum mechanics. Since it does not rely on spatial derivatives, it is particularly well-suited for modeling discontinuities such as cracks. Its integral-based approach facilitates integration over discontinuities, eliminating singularities at crack locations. The Fiber Patch Placement (FPP) process is highly effective in mapping curved load paths, which enhances the strength of structures. However, the strength calculation of FPP laminates remains an active area of research. To address this, a peridynamic model is being developed to accurately represent the failure behavior of FPP laminates, enabling more precise strength predictions. Currently, a model for stiffness representation has been established, and initial tensile tests on the failure behavior of FPP laminates have been conducted.
