Implementation of PV fed QZSI using F28379D TI controller

This work presents a comprehensive implementation of a Quasi Z-Source Inverter (qZSI) for photovoltaic applications using the TMS320F28379D Launchpad development board. The qZSI topology offers distinct advantages including single-stage power conversion, shoot-through immunity, and enhanced voltage boost capability, making it particularly suitable for solar power systems. The work addresses the critical challenges in shoot-through implementation, specifically the precise timing control, through a digital signal processor (DSP) based control strategy. Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) control generates the DC-link voltage reference, while a PI controller regulates this voltage by dynamically adjusting the shoot through duty ratio, thereby ensuring optimal power extraction from the PV array while maintaining stable DC-link voltage for the inverter operation. The control architecture employs Simple Boost PWM (SBPWM) technique, with the complete system modeled and validated in MATLAB/Simulink environment. Further, the Simulink encoder is employed for implementing the control structure in F28379D controller. This work provides practical insights into the development of efficient qZSI control algorithms, bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and practical implementation using modern digital control platforms.
