An InC-based Double Integral Sliding Mode Controlled Synchronous Boost Converter for Grid-Connected Solar EV Charging System With Surplus Power Export

This paper presents the application of a Double Integral Sliding Mode Control (DISMC)-switched Synchronous Boost Converter (SBC) to optimize solar energy utilization in a grid-connected Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station. The primary objective is to develop a highly efficient, robust and responsive Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) system capable of ensuring optimal performance under varying environmental conditions. The SBC, which replaces the conventional diode with a MOSFET and employs complementary switching using DISMC, effectively minimizes chattering and steady-state error (SSE). This approach enhances Global MPP tracking accuracy, increases output voltage and power, and significantly improves overall power conversion efficiency. When applied to EV charging, the system enhances charging current and accelerates the State of Charge (SOC) rate, thereby reducing charging time. Additionally, a PI controller integrated with the charger circuit maintains a stable DC link voltage of 500V, making it ideal for grid-interactive applications. The ability to export excess power to the grid further enhances grid resilience and supports renewable energy integration. Overall, this system provides a sustainable and practical solution for urban EV charging infrastructure, improving user convenience while contributing to the broader goal of clean energy adoption.
