AODV Routing Algorithm for Flying Ad Hoc Networks Based on Multi-Metric Weight Fusion
Flying Ad Hoc Network (FANET), as a special type of Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET), is characterized by high node mobility, drastic topology changes, and short link lifetimes. Traditional MANET routing algorithms and their variants often struggle in such dynamic environments, making it necessary to optimize the routing protocols. This paper proposes a MultiMetric Weight Fusion-based AODV routing algorithm (MMWFAODV) for Flying Ad Hoc Networks. The algorithm selects routes by fusing the predicted remaining energy ratio, link congestion level, and link stability, replacing AODV’s hop-count-based criterion. By selecting paths with higher predicted remaining energy and relatively stable links through comprehensive criteria from multiple perspectives, the network’s perception capability is enhanced, and the pressure on high-load nodes is reduced. Results demonstrate that the MMWF-AODV algorithm reduces end-toend delay, improves packet delivery ratio and throughput, with only a slight increase in overhead.
