Design of a 100G Ethernet Media Access Control Controller Based on Direct Memory Access
In response to the urgent demand for high-bandwidth, low-latency networks in artificial intelligence and big data scenarios, this paper proposes a design scheme for a 100G Ethernet MAC controller based on DMA. The design innovatively integrates a chain descriptor-based DMA transmission mechanism, achieves host communication and register configuration through a dual-bus architecture of AXI/APB, and combines the MTL transaction layer module to complete cross-clock domain data buffering, significantly improving physical interface bandwidth utilization and data transmission efficiency. The core MAC_CORE module adopts a parallel CRC32 verification algorithm and a pause frame flow control mechanism, supporting dynamic rate adaptation in full-duplex mode, effectively reducing end-to-end transmission latency.
